I have been planning on buying brand new bed cover for both of our beds for a long time. I knew there was a really huge fabric market a bit outside the town. We had planned to go there for a long time with my neighbour Päivi. She had a friend, Johanna, visiting her this week and we decided to take the trip to see how it would be. We started off from Jing'an marks spencers Temple and took a taxi to the address Cao An Highway 1618. There is no crossing road, the number is only thing that will guide you. I asked my Chinese teacher Lei for the address and she told me that in Pinyin the place was called Qing Fang Shi Chang ("Bed-thing" market). She wrote down the address in Chinese for me and we were well off with the taxi driver. It was 30 RMB trip so the place wasn't that far after all. The main entrace. marks spencers Sign says: "Shanghai Light Industry and Textile Market". " This is the left part of the building. It was huge. Downstairs was devided marks spencers to curtain show rooms and one huge hall full of fabrics of different kind. If you are in a need of fancy curtains this is the place to go. In the other part there were thousands of fabrics marks spencers but also ready-made bed sheets and bed covers, pillow cases, pillows. stoffing stuff, buttons, threads - really anything you could imagine needed for bed covers or bed sheets. Yeah, everything except the Chinese silk ones we were looking for. We found only very few silk items in general. One of the market allies in the back of the hall. Here they were selling also things not relating to sawing. Well, we gave up with the bed covers downstair. The building had three floors so we figured marks spencers we migt as well go and see the other floors. Maybe they would have the sheets there. We went directly to the third floor. First we saw lots of furnitures for sale. It was a room full with small furniture shops presenting their best pieces. It seemed to go on for ever. Soon we saw a sign which confirmed us to go on - there would be more stuff in addition to the furniture. This is the sign. I'm sorry for the quality, all of these pictures are taken with my cell phone's camera but this on is not even sharp. We were especially interested in the Cheaters-section... The third floor revelead its secrets. There were tons of different tiny shops like this in any category you want to name: this store sells glass pearls, but there were shops for dolls, silk flowers, marks spencers kids toys, plastic containers, lamps, decorations, jade jewllery, normal marks spencers jewellery, small furniture, office supplies, pet accessories... there was certainly a shop of anything you can imagine. And then, just around the corner, came the wedding and evening gown section. There were tons of beautiful dresses to be found. I was looking around and tried to find some to benchmark and then copy at the fabric market. I didn't ask for prizes though. They could have been inexpensive marks spencers here too. We decided to get down to the second marks spencers floor. After all we still had not found what we were looking for. The second floor turned marks spencers out to be another surprize: it was a huze clothing and shoe market. marks spencers Here is a view to one of the shoe isles. Later on the shoes turned to jeans and fashion clothing. The customers were young Chinese ladies. There were also some carpets for sale as well as tapestry and floor mats like these in the picture. Seela, marks spencers Päivi and Johanna with the stuff we found (it was nothing like we were looking for): Seela got a new strolley marks spencers for her baby-doll, Päivi bought a bed cover for Seela's bed and Johanna for her own bed. I bougth marks spencers nothing. We were the only western customers all day at the market. Many foreigners avoid the place because it's rumored marks spencers to be too far away and it's said that you won't get along without Chinese. Well, basic Chinese and international sign language is enough anywhere in Shanghai. It was also not that far. We would recommend the place for serious wholesale buyers or people looking for really marks spencers cheap stoff in big bunches. Also, if you are in a need of fancy curtains, this is the place to go. It was a good trip but unless it's raining cats and dogs and you need a place to spend all day at you will be better off in the nearer locations. It's worth a visit, though! once again we stated that China has a way to surprise you every time. We went to look for a fabric market but found so much more!
Lotta : Toi oli todellakin kamala paikka kokonsa ja mittakaavansa puolesta. Alakerta oli kai joku kangastukku. Kiehtovaa tässä maassa on kuitenkin se, ettei koskaan tiedä mitä l
